KARS is a Texas nonprofit corporation organized and operated to advance the knowledge of the Amateur Radio Service in Kendall County and to the support the City of Boerne and the Kendall County Governments with emergency radio communications. The noun "Amateur" as used in Amateur Radio, describes a person and/or organization who engages in a pursuit, on an unpaid rather than a professional basis.
The Kendall Amateur Radio Society has a lengthy history going back to 1980. Read this article to see how we have gone from 28 people meeting at a bank to the corporation we are today.
